Olympia Washington - March 7th, 2009

On March 7, Captain Keith Colburn attended a fundraiser in Olympia, Washington to benefit the St. Bernard Project. Joining Capt. Colburn was crew member Lenny Lekanoff. Over $12,000 was raised for St. Bernard Project - enough to rebuild one home and the life of one family.

The St. Bernard Project is a non-profit which helps residents of St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana rebuild their homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. To date 200 homes have been rebuilt. Capt. Keith Colburn visited St. Bernard Parish last December and saw first hand how the Saint Bernard Project reached out to so many residents. He spoke to guests about the continued need for assistance to residents of that area and the amazing work of the St. Bernard Project. During the evening, Capt. Keith Colburn had the honor of introducing Liz McCartney, Co-Founder of St. Bernard Project, and recent winner of the 2008 CNN Hero of the Year award.

Captain Keith donated some one-of-a kind autographed items, which resulted in frenzied bidding and substantial donations for the St. Bernard Project.  Most of the evening, he was surrounded by some of his biggest fans, a group of high school students known as the Tumwater Teens, who will travel to St. Bernard Parish over spring break to help rebuild a home for St. Bernard Project.
