Capt. Keith Colburn and Capt. Monte Colburn recently attended a chairity fundraising dinner held by the San Jose Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.) # 8 Almost $2,000 was raised to benefit the San Jose Eagles’ Annual Disadvantaged Children’s Shopping Spree. The children's shopping spree has given more than $100,000 to local children in the last four years. The Eagles have taken more than 700 local children Christmas shopping in those four years. All of the funds raised for the shopping spree go directly to the children. The children who partake in the holiday shopping spree range from ages 7 to 12, and have been chosen to participate by their teachers, principals and counselors, based on their improvement in grades and attitude. “Each year teachers and school administrators tell us what a wonderful tool the shopping spree is to encourage children to do well in school,” said Robert Prieto, shopping spree event and fundraising chairman. “As Eagles we are committed to helping local children, and we hope the community will support our efforts by coming to this event.” Captains Keith and Monte Colburn also made an appearance at the Reno Grand Convention & Poker Tournament.
